Domestic Abuse Awareness Training
Domestic Abuse Awareness training dates - all online
This training is free of charge for anyone who lives and/or works in Telford and Wrekin. The training is suitable for anyone who wants to better understand how domestic abuse affects adults and children, anyone who supports employees and work colleagues in the workplace or if you want to update your current knowledge and awareness.
The session will cover:
- What domestic abuse is – it’s definition, types of domestic abuse.
- Legislation including an overview of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
- Exploring who domestic abuse affects and how.
- What other areas of domestic abuse you may not have considered.
- Signs and indicators that someone is being subjected to domestic abuse – what may you see inside and outside of a workspace.
- An overview of how to respond to and support disclosures of domestic abuse.
- A discussion on barriers for victims and survivors – to disclosing, leaving, accessing support, and understanding historical abuse.
There will be resources after the session including details of local and national organisations who can support domestic abuse, trauma, and other forms of abuse. The session can then lead onto other training on how to support in the workplace, safety planning, links to other organisations and more training on topics around domestic abuse.

Domestic Abuse Ambassador training dates - all online
This is a session for anyone who has completed domestic abuse awareness training in the last 12 months (covering an overview of types of abuse, who it affects, legislation) or Voices Domestic Abuse Awareness training. It is is free of charge for anyone who lives and/or works in Telford and Wrekin.
During this interactive, online session the following will be covered:
- Revisit of possible signs of domestic abuse.
- How to recognise, respond and refer.
- Responsibilities of managers, HR and the company.
- What can trauma look like.
- Trauma informed responses to domestic abuse disclosures.
- Disclosures and confidentiality, information sharing and recording.
- Practical advice for your organisation, work colleagues and your wellbeing.
The training is suitable for everyone in a workplace or community organisation – it will provide advice, examples, and awareness that can help everyone support a colleague or volunteer who is being subjected to domestic abuse or who may have experienced it historically. But it will also support survivors to have a voice and feel they can talk about anything they feel comfortable with.
