JTAI inspection – findings published 5 September 2025

Published: Friday, 5 September 2025

Joint targeted area inspection of Telford and Wrekin.

Earlier in the summer, an independent joint targeted area inspection was carried out to assess the multi-agency response across Telford and Wrekin to identify the needs and risks of children and young people in the Borough.

The findings have now been published in a letter, which is available to view online.

An action plan is now being developed, as recommended by the inspectors. This will outline actions for all partners to ensure they address the recommendations and can provide the best possible, care, support and outcomes for our children and young people.

Joint Telford and Wrekin Safeguarding Partnership response:

Overall, as a partnership, we are pleased that the inspector’s feedback was overwhelmingly positive, acknowledging our strengths and working arrangements to ensure timely and effective steps are taken to identify and support children and young people in need or at risk.

Inspectors recognised our strong shared vision and our commitment towards continuous improvement and commented that the partnership’s early help response was ‘impressive’.

In their findings, the inspector also recognised a number of key strengths including the involvement of children in service planning, our confident and well-trained workforce and that children are safeguarded effectively through prompt, coordinated action between police, education, and social care professionals.

It goes without saying that as a partnership we want the very best for the Borough’s children and young people and we do take on board the inspector’s comments where further improvements can be made.”
