Tuesday 22nd NovemberSelf-Neglect seminar – delivered by Adult Safeguarding (Telford and Wrekin Council) Time: 1:00pm – 2:30pm Platform: Teams Book a place: Email partnerships@telford.gov.uk One of the key challenges in adult safeguarding is ensuring the wellbeing of adults where risk arises from self-neglect rather than from a third party. Friday 25th NovemberPredatory Marriage Seminar - delivered by Daphne Franks Time: 12:00pm – 2:00pm Platform: Teams Book a place: via emailing partnerships@telford.gov.uk to receive your Teams link Learning Objectives: During the seminar, Daphne will talk about her personal experience of working with agencies in order to understand how it was possible for her mum to marry in secret desperate having Power of Attorney for her, a mechanism to safeguard her. She describes the lack of ‘professional curiosity’ within the system which ultimately failed to protect her mum from being victim of a marriage she was unaware she was in. |

Safeguarding Adults Week is a time for organisations to come together to raise awareness of important safeguarding issues. In partnership with Shropshire Safeguarding Community Partnership and Shropshire Partners in Care we have pulled together a variety of resources to help you in your role of safeguarding. During the week itself there will be a series of free live seminars and events which you are able to join (more details will coming soon) along with a drop in event being held in Telford Town Centre where questions can ba asked to a variety of safeguarding experts in self neglect, domestic abuse, financial abuse, physical abuse, county lines/cuckooing and hoarding.

Monday 21st November - Exploitation and County Lines
- CrimeStoppers is an independent UK charity that allows anyone to share information anonymously. They’ve been campaigning on county lines since 2018.

- National County Lines Coordination Centre - County Lines Awareness Video. A 10 minute video created in partnership with Sketchups discussing the County Lines methodology and how this is impacting Children and Vulnerable adults, Partners, Law Enforcement and society.
- National County Lines Coordination Centre - Cuckooing Masterclass. This NCLCC masterclass session delivered by Anne Rannard and John Aspinall looks to empower colleagues to understand what Cuckooing is, What you can do and how to collaborate and record information along with creating your own initiatives showing examples from current campaigns
